Sorry, Mangoes! US Says ‘No Thanks’ to India’s Sweet Shipments

-

In a juicy twist, the US gave India’s mango shipments a hard pass — all because the paperwork wasn’t quite up to the mark.

Fifteen air-freighted loads of those famous Indian mangoes made it all the way to America, but missing documents left them stuck at customs. Even after going through mandatory radiation treatment (to zap bugs and keep them fresh), the mangoes were still sent packing from airports in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Atlanta.

The US told exporters to either toss the mangoes or send them back home. Guess what? Exporters chose to say goodbye to the mangoes — at a sour cost of nearly half a million dollars.

Looks like this mango season’s got a bit of a bitter aftertaste!
