“Stop This Nonsense!”- Kohli Slams Cricket Coverage for Obsessing Over Trivia

-

What’s more important—analyzing a game-winning knock or discussing what a player had for lunch? If you ask Virat Kohli, the answer is obvious! The Indian cricket superstar has had enough of broadcasters fixating on personal trivia instead of real cricketing insights.

Speaking at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit, Kohli didn’t hold back: “A broadcast should be about the game, not what I ate for lunch or my favorite chole-bhature spot in Delhi. Talk about what an athlete is going through instead.”

At 36, Kohli remains a global fitness icon, often compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic. With speculation around his future in cricket, he reassured fans: “Relax, I’m not making any announcements. I still love playing the game.”

The four-time ICC champion also expressed his excitement over cricket’s inclusion in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, crediting the IPL for expanding the sport’s global footprint. “Winning an Olympic gold would be incredible. The IPL has played a huge role in making this possible.”

And here’s the kicker—Kohli, who retired from T20Is last year, teased a possible Olympic return. “For a gold medal? Maybe. I might just sneak in for one game, win a medal, and head back home,” he quipped.

What do you think? Should cricket coverage focus more on the game or keep the off-field gossip alive? 🏏🔥
