KARACHI: A four-year-old girl lost her life in Korangi’s Mehran Town after being run over by a mini truck during Iftar.
The tragic accident occurred near Jalal Chowk when Rukhsana stepped outside to play and was fatally struck by a truck delivering sand. Of the three men in the vehicle, two fled while locals apprehended one and handed him over to the police.
The young victim, the eldest of three siblings, was rushed to the hospital but did not survive. Her devastated family later received her body.
This incident adds to Karachi’s rising toll of fatal road accidents. Recently, two industrialists died when a speeding trailer rammed their car on the ICI Bridge, sending it crashing onto iron pipes below. A rickshaw driver was also critically injured.
With reckless driving and heavy vehicles claiming lives repeatedly, Karachi’s roads remain a danger zone. How many more tragedies will it take for authorities to act?
