Pakistan vs. New Zealand – Inaugaration, Traffic Plan , Players Aspiration

-

The ICC Champions Trophy kicks off today with Pakistan facing New Zealand in the opening match. The event’s inauguration will feature a spectacular air show by the Pakistan Air Force’s Sherdil Squadron, with President Asif Ali Zardari as the chief guest.

In a meeting chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, tournament preparations and arrangements were reviewed. He emphasized ensuring top-notch arrangements, stating that hosting an ICC tournament in Pakistan after 29 years is a proud moment, and a successful event will enhance the country’s reputation.

Traffic Plan Issued for Matches

A special traffic plan has been put in place for the Champions Trophy. Sir Shah Suleman Road will remain open for regular traffic, while spectators heading to the stadium must park at the National Coaching Centre and China Ground.

Heavy traffic will be diverted to alternate routes, including Sohrab Goth to NIPA, Liaquatabad No. 10 to Hassan Square, and Peoples Chowrangi to University Road. However, heavy traffic will be restricted from Karsaz to the stadium, Millennium to New Town, and the stadium signal to Hassan Square.

The DIG Traffic has urged spectators to avoid parking their vehicles or motorcycles on roads or service lanes and to use designated parking areas.

Players’ Aspirations

Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan has expressed his determination to win the Champions Trophy, stating that every player is focused on victory and must outperform New Zealand. He also confirmed that Babar Azam will open the innings.

Star batter Babar Azam noted that much has changed since 2017, but his commitment remains the same. He aims to make this home-ground tournament memorable and hopes to recreate the remarkable moments from Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy triumph.
