“Respect Your Players”- Shan Masood Addresses Press Criticism

-

Pakistan Test cricket captain Shan Masood expressed frustration at a journalist’s question regarding his captaincy.

During a press conference after Pakistan’s defeat to the West Indies in the second Test, a journalist asked Shan,

“Will you make the decision yourself, or will the Pakistan Cricket Board decide for you?”

Shan initially responded with “Next question” but later added,

“I will not answer questions about the past. I am responding to what is happening now.” He further remarked, “If you want to discuss facts, feel free, but your information is entirely incorrect. Respect your players as well.”

Shan stated that making decisions is the PCB’s responsibility and that all players, including himself, accept those decisions.

“We are here for our country, for this institution, and for you as well,” he said. Addressing the tone of the question, he remarked, “No one will tolerate being humiliated like this. Your question was highly disparaging, and in trying to ask one thing, you attempted to undermine another. We play for Pakistan, and we strive for results through our efforts.”

He also highlighted the team’s performance, saying, “In these conditions, we won three out of four matches and lost one where mistakes were made on the first day. Do your research before questioning, and then share your opinions.”

West Indies defeated Pakistan by 120 runs in the second Test, leveling the two-match series 1-1.
