Water Pipeline Burst Causes Flooding at Karachi Airport

-

Airports around the world are considered high-alert zones, where every precaution is taken to ensure the safety and comfort of travelers.

These critical hubs of transportation are constantly monitored for potential hazards, from security threats to infrastructure issues. However, even the most carefully maintained airports can face unexpected challenges.

Such was the case at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) on Tuesday, when a water pipeline burst at the international departure lounge, flooding the entire area.

A spokesperson for the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) stated that the main valves on the western side of the Jinnah Terminal building were promptly closed once the water leakage was detected.

The spokesperson added that efforts are underway to locate the source of the leak, and repairs to the pipeline will be completed soon.

To assist passengers, a temporary passage was created by laying mats on the floor.

The spokesperson also confirmed that flight operations continued as scheduled.
