Who doesn’t know Neeli, the renowned Pakistani actress who starred in hit films like Aakhri Jang, Mola Bakhsh, Mushkil, Chief Saab, Allah Dad, Insaaniyat Ki Dushman, Ameer Khan, International Gorillas, and Sakhi Badshah? Known for her captivating personality and stellar acting skills, Neeli was a leading figure in the golden era of Pakistani cinema.
However, at the peak of her career, she made a surprising decision to leave the entertainment industry. Neeli remains the only actress to have vanished from the screen after quitting, leaving many of her fans and friends wondering about her whereabouts.
Recently, famous writer Nasir Adeeb shed light on why Neeli left the media industry and how she’s been living her life since then. He revealed that after a heartbreaking breakup with Javed Sheikh, Neeli was approached by a mafia boss who proposed to her, but she rejected his offer. The rejection led to threats from him, which eventually pushed Neeli to wrap up her shoots and disappear from the limelight.
Adeeb shared that after completing her films, Neeli believed no one would marry her, but she received a marriage proposal from someone loyal to her. Together, they lived in Pakistan for several years, and Neeli has two children. She hasn’t looked back since and only stayed in touch with a few close friends like Aziz Memon. When asked to return to the film industry, Neeli politely declined, asking for the matter to remain private.
Nasir Adeeb also shared that Neeli’s entry into the film industry was a result of her intellect and educational background, which impressed him when he went to his friend Yunus Malik to cast new faces for his film.
