Former One Direction star Liam Payne tragically passed away after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Media reports suggest that Liam was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and took the fatal step while attempting to exit his hotel room.
According to a report by the American website TMZ, CCTV footage from the hotel showed Liam struggling and resisting with staff in the lobby. Hotel staff used a master key to return Liam to his room and, as a precaution, removed a mirror placed outside the door.
One hotel employee called emergency services, expressing concern, stating, “I don’t know if his life is at risk, but he is in the balcony room, and we are a bit worried.”
Investigations revealed that 31-year-old Liam was attempting to move from the third-floor balcony to the second-floor balcony to get closer to the ground. However, he tragically fell during this attempt. A bag and a cap were found near him, containing pills and a whiskey bottle with “For Liam Payne” written on it.
Reports indicate that Liam had previously used hotel balconies to escape. In a similar incident in Florida, his bodyguard had locked him in his room while he was intoxicated.
According to the coroner, Liam Payne was likely unconscious when he fell, although he was last seen conscious while packing his belongings.
