Saud Shakeel’s resilient century kept Pakistan in the game, matching England’s first-innings total of 267 by tea on day two of the series-deciding third Test in Rawalpindi on Friday.

The 29-year-old left-hander anchored Pakistan’s innings with an unbeaten 107, crafted patiently with 75 singles and just four boundaries.

Shakeel stood firm against England’s bowlers, sharing an 88-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Noman Ali, who scored 45 before spinner Shoaib Bashir dismissed him in the final over before the break.
