Bangladeshi Court Issues – Arrest Warrant for Sheikh Hasina – Amid Political Unrest

-

A Bangladeshi court has issued an arrest warrant for exiled former leader Sheikh Hasina, who fled to India in August following her ousting by a student-led revolution.

Hasina, who ruled for 15 years, is accused of widespread human rights abuses, including mass detentions and extrajudicial killings. The court has ordered her to appear on November 18 for trial related to the deaths of over 700 people during unrest in 2023.

Arrest warrants were also issued for other Awami League leaders.

Hasina’s current whereabouts are believed to be in India, which has declined to comment on the situation.
