Oops! 400°C in Nottingham BBC Weather App’s Wild Forecast Sparks Confusion

-

The BBC has apologized after its weather app displayed incorrect forecasts, causing confusion among users.

The BBC issued an apology after its weather app mistakenly showed forecasts for “hurricane-force” winds near London and temperatures over 400°C in Nottingham.

After false reports circulated online, BBC Weather quickly clarified the issue, confirming that the incorrect graphics had been corrected.

Lead meteorologist Simon King reassured users on X, saying, “Oops, don’t be alarmed by some of our [BBC Weather app] data this morning. There won’t be 14,408 mph winds or 404°C temperatures. It’s being fixed and should be sorted soon.”

King acknowledged that the incorrect graphic could have caused confusion, especially with Hurricane Milton impacting Florida. “Hopefully, the impossible numbers have been corrected,” he said.

BBC meteorologist Matt Taylor explained, “There was a data glitch between our suppliers and the app/online. The team is working to resolve it.”
