Karachi Heatwave – Five Days of Extreme Temperatures Ahead

-

Karachi is in the grip of a heatwave, with the Meteorological Department warning that high temperatures could persist for five consecutive days.

As of Tuesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, a rise of 1.5 degrees from the previous day.

The sweltering conditions are attributed to a disruption in sea breezes combined with hot, dry winds blowing in from Balochistan, resulting in a daunting heat index of 44 degrees.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz noted that rising atmospheric pressure is intensifying the heat, with forecasts suggesting that temperatures could exceed 39 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

While humidity levels remain low, reducing the likelihood of a prolonged heatwave, the current pressure patterns are causing temperatures to climb.

Sarfraz emphasized that no pressure system is forming in the Arabian Sea, rendering long-term weather predictions uncertain. Residents are advised to take precautions as the city navigates through this challenging weather phase.
