Aleem Dar has announced his retirement from umpiring at the end of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) 2024-25 domestic season, bringing an illustrious career to a close.
Recognized for his professionalism, Dar won the prestigious David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year three times between 2009 and 2011.
Starting as a player in 1986, he transitioned to umpiring in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 1998. Serving on the ICC Elite Panel from 2003 to 2023, Dar officiated a record 145 Tests, 231 ODIs, and 72 T20Is.
He is currently part of the PCB’s Elite Panel and one of four Pakistani umpires on the ICC’s International Panel.
Reflecting on his decision, Dar expressed gratitude for his career and stated that he aims to focus on social and charity work, particularly his hospital project.
He plans to mentor emerging umpires while officiating during his final season.
