Heavy Rains and Strong Winds Hit Karachi, Gulshan-e-Hadeed Records Highest Rainfall

Karachi is currently experiencing heavy rain and strong winds as the monsoon season begins.

The rainfall, brought by a system from Gujarat, India, is expected to continue until August 31, with the city receiving between 150 and 200 mm of rain.

In response, the Sindh government has declared a rain emergency and established a monitoring cell at the Chief Minister’s House.

Severe waterlogging is reported in several areas, especially around Saddar Empress Market.

Residents are advised to take precautions and limit travel during this period.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Gulshan-e-Hadeed recorded the highest rainfall at 42 mm.

Other areas include Nazimabad with 26 mm, Surjani Town with 25.4 mm, and Saddar with 13 mm. The PAF Faisal Base saw 12 mm, and Gulshan-e-Memar experienced 12.4 mm.

Heavy rain and strong winds have been reported across various parts of Karachi. Authorities urge residents to stay safe and avoid unnecessary travel as the storm system continues to affect the city, according to media reports.
