Pop singer Aima Baig has announced plans to launch a #MeToo movement in Pakistan to combat exploitation and empower women.
This decision follows her recent performance in Jeddah and Umrah pilgrimage, which strengthened her resolve to address these critical issues.
Baig expressed that her spiritual experience during Umrah inspired her to take action against the normalization of cheating and the exploitation of women’s innocence.
She shared that while she is not speaking from personal victimization, she is deeply concerned about the widespread abuse affecting women around her.
In her social media posts, Baig condemned the trivialization of cheating and the manipulation of women, stating, “Cheating has become a norm, and exploiting women’s naivety is treated as a joke.”
She urged women to stand up against these injustices, highlighting the severe mental and emotional toll on young women facing such exploitation.
Baig’s announcement comes amid her plans to spend an extended period outside Pakistan.
Despite her recent breakup with actor Shahbaz Shigri, she confirmed that they remain on good terms and maintain a civil relationship. Baig acknowledged their strong connection but admitted she was not ready for commitment at the time.
