Hasina Expected to Stay in India Until UK Asylum Decision

-

Former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is anticipated to remain in India until the UK grants her asylum, according to reports from Bangladeshi news channel Republic TV.

The channel reports that India will provide Hasina with necessary logistical support, as stated by their New Delhi correspondent. Additionally, ANI mentions that the Indian Air Force and other security agencies are ensuring her safety by relocating her to a secure area.

Hasina is also expected to meet her daughter, Saima Wazed, in New Delhi, where she serves as the World Health Organization’s regional director for South-East Asia.

Security at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri diplomatic zone has been intensified with additional barricades and increased police presence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level security meeting tonight, which concluded around 8:30 PM IST. No official details about the meeting’s discussions have been released.
