Will Karachi Experience Monsoon Rains Soon?

-

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast partly cloudy skies for Karachi today, with the hot and humid weather expected to continue over the next 24 hours.

The Met Office reports that the maximum temperature will range between 34°C and 36°C, with humidity levels reaching up to 76%.

Winds from the sea, blowing at 21 kilometers per hour, may provide some relief from the heat. The minimum temperature recorded over the past 24 hours was 31°C.

In other regions, most districts of Balochistan will also experience hot and humid weather. However, there is a chance of rain, along with strong winds and thunder, in Zhob, Shirani, Musa Khel, Barkhan, and Khuzdar.

Karachi residents have been longing for a break from the recent intense heat. Light drizzles in some areas have offered minor relief but have not been enough to significantly cool down the city.

Earlier this week, Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz indicated that Karachi might see rain after July 8. This aligns with the PMD’s prediction of “vigorous monsoon activity” in the upper and central parts of Pakistan, driven by strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
