Electricity bills are causing significant stress for both regular people and those in the entertainment industry.
Sangita, the well-known actress and director, was surprised to receive a bill of 60,000 rupees, including 20,000 rupees for electricity and a hefty 40,000 rupees in taxes.
This follows similar shocks experienced by actors like Rashid Mahmood and Nisho Begum, who faced bills exceeding one lakh rupees.
Sangita, who uses only one AC unit, questioned the reason behind such high charges, saying, “Electricity providers, please have mercy on us! How can a single AC bill be 60,000 rupees?”
Rashid Mahmood expressed frustration upon receiving a 45,000 rupee bill, stating, “I feel I was born in the wrong country. May Allah help me.”
Even comedian Ghafoor Lehri, living in a small rented house and using minimal electricity, was surprised by a 20,000 rupee bill.
He criticized the billing system, especially considering the financial difficulties faced by artists due to months of unemployment.
These rising electricity costs are affecting livelihoods and prompting calls for fairer billing practices and support for those in the entertainment industry.
