Karachi experiences hottest July night since 2021

-

Karachi experienced its hottest night of July since 2021 as dry and hot weather conditions persisted in the city.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), last night’s temperature dropped to 32°C, marking a significant increase from the usual July lows of 31°C recorded in 2021 and 2022.

The PMD reported that temperatures were 4.1°C above normal for this time of year.

While sea breezes are expected to bring some relief, the Met Office forecasts hot and humid weather over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35°C to 37°C. The normal temperature for July is projected to remain around 27.9°C.

Weather analyst Jawad Memon anticipates the return of sea breezes, which may lead to sea clouds and the possibility of drizzles in various parts of Karachi during the night and morning in the coming days.

Karachi has been experiencing a severe heatwave recently, briefly interrupted by sporadic rainfall. Health experts advise residents to consume homemade food and drinks and to boil water before use.

Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has indicated that monsoon rains are expected to arrive after July 8, although no rain is forecasted for the city today.
